Occupation(s): Fashion Blogger, Freelance blogger, Marketing
Who is your role model/mentor: I'm not sure that I could say I have a role model or mentor, in terms of the online business I'm in, it often feels like there is no one whose career I want to model mine after yet. It feels like I'm creating and adding to the description of my career every day!
What do you like most about your job: What I like most about writing StyleStruck.ca is the freedom it allows me to express myself and my thoughts, and of course my style. The fact that people want to read about what I'm up to is incredible to me, I LOVE my readers!
Daily ritual: The first thing I do when I wake up is feed Marie, she goes nuts in the morning for her breakfast! Next I move over to my computer and check my email, if I don't tackle the morning's emails right away, the list of replies can become too long to deal with by the end of the day!
The most rewarding part of my job is: Receiving emails from readers who appreciate my blog, and who are younger than me and look up to me. They'll often ask for advice, and that's a huge compliment.
What has been your biggest strength that’s helped you succeed in your industry?: What is the definition of blogger success? I feel like that's still undefined. Of course, I am happy and grateful for where I am now. I suppose my biggest strength is my ability to quickly create connections with people. A lot of the people whom I speak to at events I now consider friends rather than "industry connections."
Favourite Blog: Too many to say just one. I really enjoy Cup of Jo, The Glamourai, Doctor's Closet and Habitually Chic.
Memorable celebrity encounter/interview: Meeting Rag and Bone founders David Neville and Marcus Wainwright at a wedding last August in Manhattan. We'd all had a couple drinks and it was fantastic to be able to just chat in a relaxed environment with them, they're incredibly charming and quite funny. Marcus even told me he liked me dress (BCBG Max Azria), to which I sheepishly replied, "Oh...it's not one of yours..." and he said, "Well I know that!" Then I told him I'd need a few pictures with him and David!
Favourite quote: "Create a life you love." Yes!
Where do you go for some retail therapy?: Zara, hands down. Though, my best shopping is definitely done when I'm away, particularly in NYC.
Dream vacation spot?: St. Tropez - and I'm headed there this July!
What has been your favourite event to attend?: The Joe Fresh party in October was utterly fabulous. But of course there have been many others I have enjoyed, it's really all about connecting with the people there that makes an event great.
Favourite hangout: At home with Marie and my man... :)
Flats or heels?: Heels!! Always heels.
Favourite childhood memory: From 2-4 we lived on my Dad's boat, I treasure my memories of snowy Christmases walking down the dock towards the boat, seeing the tree on the roof and all the lights decorating the boat. It was so magical! Also, making chocolate cakes on the carpet when we lived in Qualicum... my Mum LOVED that.
What is your favourite ice-cream flavor?: Chocolate. Simple and delicious.
Favourite social network: Twitter is fantastic, I couldn't live without it.
Last song you downloaded: Would you believe me if I told you I don't know how to download music? The last song I listened to though was Dean Martin's "Everybody Loves Somebody"
"I love collaborating with business for blog features, if there is a local business interested, please email me!"
